Director of Punjab National Bank, Shri Pankaj Jain
Shri Pankaj Jain has been appointed by the Government as a Government nominated Director on the Board of Punjab National Bank from August 08, 2019 till further orders.
Shri Pankaj Jain serves as Additional Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, Government of India. Shri Jain has been associated with various banks and financial institutions including Canara Bank, IDBI Bank, Export Import Bank of India, Small Industries Development Bank of India, National Housing Bank, Mudra Ltd and the National Credit Guarantee Trustee Company (NCGTC) as a Director on their Board. He currently serves as a Member on the International Financial Services Centre Authority (IFSCA), GIFT city. He has also officiated as Managing Director of the Indian Infrastructure Finance Corporation Ltd (IIFCL) and as Chairman of India Infrastructure Finance Corporation (UK) from December, 2017 to May, 2020. Sh. Jain has been a Member of the HR Khan Committee on Development of Bond Markets, the UK Sinha Committee on MSMEs and Chairman of the Sub Group on Expanding Institutional Finance for Infrastructure. His areas of interest include financing and governance.
As IAS Officer of the 1990 batch, he is an alumnus of Shri Ram College of Commerce from where he has a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce followed by an MBA from FMS Delhi. He also has a professional qualification in the discipline of accounting as an Associate Member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India.
Shri Jain has previously worked for the Governments of Assam and Meghalaya. This encompasses being District Magistrate at Shillong and Tura along with assignments in the Secretariat/State Corporations dealing with Power, Planning, Information Technology, Livelihood Promotion and Industries and as being Director with the Government of India in the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. His work experience also includes a three-year stint with the British International Aid Agency - the Department for International Development (DFID) as Governance Adviser and Senior Program Manager as well as Consulting assignments with UNIDO and the Asian Productivity Organisation (APO).
